Transition

“Change is a process of looking at ineffective ways of carrying out God’s assignments in the present, then looking at a better future, and finally developing reasonable strategies to get there.” -Dr. Harry Shields

Hey Camp,

I wanted to be open and honest with you all as the Camp moves into some transition. Unfortunately, I will no longer be serving as the Camp Director in the coming years. I want you to know that these changes, while not preferable, are not held with negativity. I think the Board has some great ideas in moving forward and I hope that you will continue to support them at full force!

A few principles I want to leave you with:

-There will always be snakes trying to move your vision from God and His calling on your life, to negativity; do not listen or give heed to them.

-The mission of the Camp has not and will not change. God has used and will continue to use WCSC to change the lives and hearts of next generation Christians. A note on this: I may be gone, but the needs of the Camp are not. We will need your full support to make sure that the Camp continues to be a part of our lives for generations to come.

-Invest in the Camp. Look for ways you can get involved, whether that be volunteering for a week, running for a position on the Board, or volunteering to work at the Camp.

-Keep the leadership of the Camp accountable. Ask questions, know the circumstances, be intentional.

I truly believe that the Camp has some great things for the future. God used the Camp to change my life, I know He has used it in yours, your children’s, and your grandchildren’s to do the same. Use the Camp to allow God to speak into the next generation Christians of your Church. I will continue to support the Camp in every way that I am able. As many of you know, I am getting married next summer to my beautiful fianceé, Alyssa, as well as graduating with my Masters Degree, so I will be looking and praying for my next steps in God’s calling for my life. It has been an honor to serve the Camp for the past 11 years of my life, both voluntarily and professionally. I am thankful for your prayers in the next part of mine and Alyssa’s journey in life!

In Jesus,

Matt Brooks

Moving Forward

Blog

Hey everybody!

I cannot thank you enough for your support and efforts in making camp happen this year. As we think about the future, there are a few things that I would like you to consider and pray about:

-Giving

-Praying

-Getting Involved

Giving

As we think about the future of the camp, we are tasked with building a new storm shelter, privacy fences, electrical work, water work, and a number of other projects. As you know, these types of projects cost a significant amount. We are planning on rolling out a $50,000-$100,000 campaign in which you will become a part of something truly special: making sure the camp gets where it needs to be for generations to come. We are currently testing and working on ways for you to give with ease. This includes giving online! As we make this possible, we will give you more information.

Praying

Something that I have learned during my years at camp is that my identity is solely in Christ and if He is not at the center of our lives, plans, and relationships, they are destined to fail. That being said, we are asking you to soak these projects in prayer and worship before the Lord. Some key things to think about are: giving, leadership, people who can make these projects more successful, the next generation of students who will enjoy the benefits of these projects, and for these projects to bring glory to God.

Getting Involved

Jimmy Breeck, our Camp Caretaker, has done a tremendous job with the upkeep of the camp this year. That being said, we rely heavily on the area churches to be a part of the camp and invest in coming out to camp and helping with its maintenance. Jimmy will be holding work days for the rest of the year on Saturday’s until the winter to make sure the camp season is closed smoothly and to make sure that the camp itself is ready to reopen next year. You can contact him at (812) 571-0750.

Again, we are so thankful for your continued support for the camp. May God Bless you for your investment!

Matt Brooks

Here We Go!

Hey everybody! Thank you for following this blog! We are so excited to get the camp season started. There is a lot of work we have been doing to update the camp and a lot more still needs to be done. If you or someone you know would like to be a part of this next chapter of the Whitewater Camp please contact myself or Jimmy Breeck our camp caretaker.

As I think about this new season, my desire is to create a lasting community for the next generation of Christians. God has used this camp in my life in a very meaningful way. Now it is my turn to give back and allow God to use me to create that same environment for the next generation. I hope you’ll join me in this journey. Thank you for your continued support!

In Jesus,
